What is HACCP?
HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical and physical hazards that might occur in the food production process. The HACCP system puts into place stringent actions to take to prevent the hazards from occurring. By strictly monitoring each step of the process, there is less chance for hazards to occur.
Instead of relying on food inspectors to detect food safety problems, HACCP shifts the responsibility to the food producer to
ensure that the product is safely consumable.
There are seven principles of HACCP that need to be used and implemented in any food industry throughout the world. These principles include the following:
We offer HACCP food safety awareness training onsite. The HACCP Awareness course is designed to provide you with a basic understanding of food hygiene, principles of HACCP systems and incorporates the key aspects of Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).
Who would benefit from this course?
The course is ideal for those who have a limited knowledge of HACCP, and how it applies to the food industry. It is designed as an introduction to the foundations of HACCP, for food handlers, supervisors, team leaders or anyone working for a business that is involved in cooking, processing, growing, transporting or supplying food.
What is HACCP Certification?
HACCP Certification is an international standard defining the requirements for effective control of food safety and is conducted against the accepted Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles and guidelines.
It is regarded as the foundation system for organisations in the food industry to provide a safe and suitable food product. HACCP Certification allows food industry services including manufacturers, producers and food handlers to demonstrate their commitment to food safety through the implementation of a food safety plan. It is often a requirement of regulators or stakeholders that a commitment to food safety is demonstrated.
HACCP certification is mainly to help food industry services implement and evaluate the safety and quality of the operation process. A certificate will be issued based on the conformity of general requirements of HACCP.
Benefits of HACCP Certification:
A HACCP Food Safety Management System will need to be fully developed and implemented prior to a HACCP certification assessment.

An option when developing a Food Safety Management System is to engage a HACCP Consultant to help you get your Food Safety Management system to the required level for successful certification.
Firstly, a HACCP Consultant will undertake an initial assessment of your facility to determine any issues or gaps. They will then assist you in creating a plan for developing and implementing your Food Safety System.
When your system is at the required level, the Consultant will assist with the preparation for assessment and certification.
