Today we’re answering a question from one of our live webinars, from a gentleman called Mark. Mark’s question goes as follow:
“I'm a small startup, a one man show whats a good approach to management review when it's just one person?”
Mark, I think it's really important to take some time out yourself to work on your business and to write yourself a to do list or a list of notes, thats the first thing to do from a management review perspective. The second thing is, I've spent three hours today with my business coach, I think a lot of the youtubers you may watch - maybe watch Ty Lopez and Gary Vee they would be two great people to watch - that would give you great ideas and if you watch their videos write down notes. Write down: what did he say? What do I need to do?
So your management review is about drawing up inspiration from your mentors and you can watch those people on youtube, and then the second thing, Mark, would be to if there is an influential person in your life that you can bounce ideas off, look for the most successful person that you want to be like in your network, even if they are sort of a fringe of your network, the most successful you wanna be like reach out to them and see if they will give you some help. And it might be that you just meet up with them once or twice or three or four times a year or have phone conversation and just say: “Here's where I'm at with my business, I'm a start up”, and you will be surprised at the number of people that are willing to give you some comments and advice and some direction. Those people are successful because they stay on course, and get through the stressful times and get through the hurdles and working through that process and I'm one of those people; every single day I'm finding things and I'm fixing them and constantly improving and developing.
Mark, for you, management review is about finding some mentors and people you can catch up with; look for somebody who's the most successful person that you wanna be like, the most successful person that you want to be like that is going to help you succeed. Reach out to them and just say: “Hey, I really value you, I really respect you, and I was wondering if you have any tips and tricks for me because I'm getting started.”
So that’s something for you Mark and then obviously see what you can consume from a youtube perspective like people like Ty Lopez and Gary Vee, because they have great tips and tricks and they are going to help you and when you're a start up properly one of the first things you need to do is get started with your marketing, start it with your sales. Without marketing and sales, you can build out the best product, the best company and the best management system but it's not going to go anywhere.
