Qatar Airways has announced it will donate 100,000 round-trip tickets to healthcare workers from around the world as a gesture of thanks for their continued work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The commencement of the coincides with International Nurses Day on May 12th, and doctors, medical practitioners, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, lab technicians and clinical researchers are eligible to apply for the promotion. If approved, those applicants will be contacted with a voucher valid for two economy class round trip tickets to a destination of their choice, so long as Qatar flies there, of course.
The offering will take applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be offered flights between May 12th and November 28th, for travel between May 26th to December 10th.
The company has also announced that healthcare professionals will receive a 35% discount on at Duty Free outlets at the Hamad International Airport in Doha, valid until the end of the year.
Qatar Airways has said that to ensure there is a fair spread of tickets made available to healthcare workers all around the world, each country will be taken into account, and there will be an allocation for each nation based on the overall population.

“We have built a strong level of trust with passengers, governments, trade partners, and airports as a reliable partner during this crisis and we intend to continue delivering on this mission by acknowledging the incredible efforts of these heroe,” Al Baker continued to explain. “Our crew and operation has never given up during these past three months, never abandoned hope or their mission to help people to get home to their loved ones and we do not intend to do so now.”
Al Baker concluded by stating that “united in dedication, we share our gratitude. Now it is our turn to give something back to those on the healthcare frontline. There are no words or gestures that are enough to repay these brave men and women but we hope that our small offer of a complimentary return flight on Qatar Airways will allow them to enjoy a well-deserved holiday, visit family and friends or explore a destination they have always dreamed of, as travel restrictions start to ease.”
